Joe Caldwell's Missing ABA Games

Postby kovit123 » Fri Aug 14, 2009 2:21 pm

Could you please find out which games did Joe "Pogo" Caldwell missed from the ABA Games from 1970-1971 to 1974-1975 Season?

In 74-75, Joe was suspended by St Louis of ABA for "conduct detrimental" ( i.e. supposedly " leading Marvin Barnes 'astray'") after game 25 for the rest of the season.

He never played in the NBA or ABA again - says he was blacklisted.

I'll see if I can find his earlier missed games.

He signed w/ the Cougs on 10-30-70. The season started on 10-15. On 10-30 Carolina played its 7th game. So there are some of the games he would have had to have missed. The Hawks filed lawsuits to prohibit him from jumping (ironic?) so maybe they weren't resolved and he wasn't allowed to play until 11-11 (the 13th game). I will do some further research to help determine.

Joe injured his knee in the opening minute on 1/9/73. He returned to the lineup on 1/19.

That means he missed games on Jan 10, 12, 14 & 15 as well as most of the game on 1/9.

Still researching for the other missed games.
