Bad News Barnes always made headlines

After signing a seven-year, $2.1 million ABA contract in 1974, Marvin Barnes averaged 24.1 points and 13.4 rebounds over the next two seasons with the Spirits of St. Louis.

That was his second highest-paying job.

In several interviews this fall with FanHouse, the talented big man, who would become an NBA washout, talked about how drugs wrecked his career. But he also revealed how he was heavily involved in the trafficking of them.
