Raymond Dalmau in 1975 ABA Draft ???

Postby stathunter03 » Tue Jul 13, 2010 10:51 pm

Hello,

I'm a little bit confused. In a CBA Media Guide from 1984-85, the draft record for basketball legend Raymond Dalmau shows: "Utah '75 (ABA)". But I can't find him in that years draft. How can that happen?

This is from Wikipedia:

"He was in conversations in 1975 to sign a contract with the former Utah Stars in the ABA(American basketball association) but he declined to maintain his amateur status. Professional basketball players were not allowed at that time to play for their countries in international competition."

Which means he was close to be "property" of the Utah Stars. But how did they get his "rights". Expansion Draft, Dispersal Draft, Special Circumstances Draft, College Draft??
