1. I suspect that most of us heard about Chris Paul's streak of consecutive games with at least one steal. He established record in that category with 108 games. Here are first three longest streaks with a steal (s-started, e-ended):

108 Chris Paul s-Apr. 13, 2007 e-Dec. 25, 2008
105 Alvin Robertson s-Nov. 6, 1985 e-Dec. 29, 1986
77 Michael Jordan s-March 25, 1988 e-March 17, 1989

Here is a question: who is the holder of similar record in category of blocks?

2. Chris Paul set also other record in this season, namely most consecutive games with 20 points and 10 assists to start a season (7 games). The record of most consecutive such 20/10 games at any point of season (14 games) belongs to Nate Archibald (from his famous 1972/73 season). Who is the second on that list?

I was going to guess Oscar. Was 1989 the year that MJ was nominally the point guard? Most seasons there'd be someone, a John Paxson or Sam Vincent or someone, who'd nominally be the PG, even though MJ and Pippen did most of the playmaking.

Answer to 2nd question

You're right, gorba77. It was MJ and when most of us are associating Michael with scoring first, I think this is achievement worth of mentioning. Here are longest 20points/10assists streaks in NBA history (s: started, e: ended):

14 - Nate Archibald (Kansas City) s:11-03-72 e:11-29-72
12 - Michael Jordan (Chicago) s:3-24-89 e:04-14-89
9 - Michael Adams (Denver) s:12-01-90 e:12-22-90
8 - Nate Archibald (Kansas City) s:12-15-72 e:12-26-72
7 - Sleepy Floyd (Golden State) s:01-10-87 e:01-21-87
Chris Paul (New Orleans) s:10-29-08 e:11-14-08
6 - Isiah Thomas (Detroit) s:02-29-84 e:03-09-84
Isiah Thomas (Detroit) s:12-28-84 e:01-09-85
Fat Lever (Denver) s:01-24-87 e:02-3-87
Magic Johnson (L.A. Lakers) s:03-26-87 e:04-5-87
Kevin Johnson (Phoenix) s:03-20-89 e:03-28-89
Gary Payton (Seattle) s:03-10-00 e:03-21-00

Does anyone know which NBA player has the most consecutive games in block shots?

This is my first occasion to use the Player Streak Finder.
It says here:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... i?id=FSiAA

Dikembe Mutombo had a streak of 116 games with at least 1 block.
This came four days after a streak of 81 such games had ended.

The 116 began on 1-20-95 and ended 4-2-96.
Regular season games only.
In the meantime, though, were 3 playoff games (Mar-Apr '95), and he had at least 2 blocks in each. So that doesn't break a streak.
You might count it as 119.

That Eaton article is from 1989.

Thank Mike for correction. I've never heard before about Player Streak Finder. It's a great tool and using it I found a name of player who had even longer streak of games with at least one blocked shot than Dikembe. Patrick Ewing between 11/05/1988 (streak started) and 03/24/1990 (streak ended) played in 145 games and in each of them he had at least one rejection. Ironically, in that game (against Celtics) when his streak was ended, he scored his career-high 51 points. Assuming that in 1989, as article mentioned by me in my last message claims, Eaton's 94 streak was still longest in NBA history, Patrick's streak is now one to beat.

Does the Assn consider these types of streaks broken by DNPs?

I think it does. For example, Jordan's record for most consecutive 10+ point games (866). Many times that achievement was mentioned on nba.com site, so that's why I think NBA considers these types of records.

I'm not sure you understood the question. I wasn't asking whether the Assn recognized the streaks but rather whether the Assn considers the streaks to be broken by DNPs or whether, on the other hand, the streak is considered to continue after a DNP. Does anyone here know?

Ewing, within the 1989-90 season, had a streak of 38 games with at least 2 blocks per game.
Shortly thereafter, Olajuwon began a streak of 36.

Manute Bol, late in the 1986-87 season had at least 3 blocks in 18 consecutive games.
Shaq eclipsed that early in his rookie year, 23 straight.
No one's had even 15 straight since then.
Was Shaq briefly thought to be the greatest shotblocker ever?

Check this out:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... elog/1993/

These were the first 23 games of his career. Included were 10 games straight with 4+ blocks.
He got zero blocks in his 24th game; along with 23 points, 23 rebounds, 9-11 FT.
He averaged 4 blocks thru his first 48 games.

Oklahoma's Serge Ibaka just had a streak of 11 games with at least 3 blocks.
He only averages about 25 minutes per game. Of players who have gone 25 mpg for a year, only Manute Bol, Tree Rollins, and Mark Eaton (3 times) have averaged more blocks per minute.

As a percentage of opponent 2-point FGA, 2012 Serge is 2nd only to 1986 Manute in Block%.
