Walton Goes 21-22 vs. Memphis State

at 00:48 Curt Gowdy says Greg Lee is really passing well from "..the point for UCLA...". Tom Hawkins is the analyst.

I don't have a prayer of watching this on my computer, but someone who does might count Walton's missed shots. I recall one UCLA miss, and he was only in position to just bat the ball off the glass; he rebounded that and put it in.

If that was 2 rebounds, then it was 1 of his 2 missed shots. If so, then he might have 'really' been 21-22 shooting.

Wasn't Greg Lee his HS teammate? Did they basically invent the alley-oop?

1) Walton went 21 for 22 from the field in this game

2) Walton attended Helix High in La Mesa (near San Diego)
Greg Lee attended Reseda High (Los Angeles area)

Alley Oop

The lob had already been thrown by Guy Rodgers to Wilt Chamberlain, and perhaps others have read or recall instances. Lee-Walton contemporaries Thompson and Towe employed the alley oop pass.
