Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2016 NBA Draft Project
Fingers crossed, I should be able to get something ready by end of night 6/5. Has anyone else committed? How do you want to gather the content? Email? Google doc? Paste here?

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
For a future article I think it would be awesome to look at the model retrodictions and compare them to how draft slots have performed (especially for the lottery or so), similar to what hoops nerd has done. I think this would be great to give credence to the models. Obviously this would be a lot o...

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
I agree with statman that I need a lot more data than just from this years top 100. I also am in the same boat in that I won't have time to add internationals to my draft board with any confidence in the numbers (next year!). So count me out for any international based article. Thanks everyone for p...

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
We're glad you guys are enjoying the tool. FYI I updated my rankings this morning - they changed quite a bit again. They should be more stable from here on out. We are happy to add more models if you send us data. We'd love to get Kevin Pelton's up but we didn't want to blindly add without permissio...

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
Along with my updated board I would also like to point you to a new tool we have at tothemean.com which allows you to compare these analytic draft models in a better way than a shared google doc. We also allow you to compare with some more well known projections. We have already added the draft boar...

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
@ampersand5 - I am in for the article. Also I made some significant changes to my models over the weekend. My numbers changed quite a bit and I haven't had time to analyze fully yet but here is my updated list. Looks like I'm on the Russell bandwagon. Payne jumped up significantly. Kaminsky and Wrig...

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
-I agree with Statman's suggestion on way to follow twitter discussion - I don't know how to find/follow either -If you want me to do something for followup article please make clear of specifics -At some point I plan to release historical performance of my numbers on my blog (with comments on how i...

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
I'd love to contribute to the followup articles revealing more methodology/commentary/etc as long as I get enough heads up and can dedicate enough time. With a real job taking up my week days it is hard for me to promise anything unless I have at least a weekend to work on it.

Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project
Here is initial summary. I might need to change it a bit after I completely finish my models this weekend (at which point I will post my projections). I initially wrote a ton more but I cut most all of it out and will assume we can link a more thorough explanation of things on my blog. My name is Je...

Count me in! Thanks for the invite.
I have a handful of improvements to my work from last year (http://tothemean.com/2014/06/17/machine ... draft.html) and will use this as motivation to dedicate some time to it.

Optimizing End Of Quarter Shot-Timing In The NBA
Here is research paper I just finalized that I'd like to share: Optimizing End Of Quarter Shot-Timing In The NBA: Everyone Knows About The 2 For 1, But What About The 3 For 2? http://tothemean.com/2015/02/15/optimizing-end-of-quarter-shot-timing.html This research is what I was referring to in this ...

Re: Intentionally fouling at the end of quarters?
I am actively working on a sloan paper which somewhat relates to this which crow was pointing out. My abstract was selected to the second round. I will link here at some point (depending on how far I get will determine how soon that is).

I'll respond to some of the comments above. -In regards to dv choice - As my article described I struggled on what to use here. I agree that what I ended up using is a bit stran...
