Re: Zone Location Shot Chart
Finding an out-of-the-box solution is probably going to prove difficult. It may pay you to invest some time into learning just enough R to figure out how to do what you want. I have a gist with the code to draw an NBA court, which allows me to do something like this: http://i.imgur.com/f5Us3GG.png a...

Re: Shot Charts
If you go to Basketball-Reference and click on a player page , you will see a link to "shooting" with a list of player-seasons . There you will see a shot chart with made/missed shots plotted over an x-y halfcourt, and also a heatmap smoothing out those shots. http://i.imgur.com/VzHdqqW.pn...

Re: How many teams have a 10+% chance to win title next seas
FWIW there's some historical data here on Vegas odds, and they seem to have 2-3 teams in the middle of the offseason with 10% chance at the championship.

I would like to see a worked out example, with R code if possible.

Re: Home Court Advantage
It would be nice if these numbers could be tied into a more general theory of home court advantage. For example what is the relation of HCA to elevation? I remember reading a study once about acclimation to high elevation, which takes (IIRC) up to ten days and is not persistent. So some other questi...

Re: Weighting linear regression? Math/Excel question?
I was afraid of that. I must confess to opening R and being instantly bewildered by the console - even the help page. If there's no simpler way, I guess I can export my current data into a .csv file or something similar and start experimenting...? I've seen add ins that claim to do more complex reg...

Re: Learn R (Ed Küpfer, 2011)
Bumping this because I've had a couple of folks ask me about learning R over the last couple of weeks, and also because Millsy keeps posting great sports-based tutorials that may be easier for apbrmetricians to grasp. I want to highlight a recent post on basic graphing techniques that may help some ...
