Re: Undrafted Gems Still Available
I’m sure some of the guys left on my list fit the bonzie Colson mould, in terms of they are an undersized big when you do the eye test. I did try to identify this in the model with certain offense statistics and physical attributes that are traits of someone who can play as a versatile wing. The eye...

Undrafted Gems Still Available
Hi, Following the draft, the following 10 players are what my draft model categorized as late 1st round picks. As of today these players have not signed 2 way contracts with any teams, and from what i could find did not pull out of the draft to return to school. When sorted for defensive ability all...

Re: Another draft model!
If carter Jnr and Ayton didn’t have such good FT%s they would have been out of the lottery as well. The model takes their FT% with there low 3pt attempts but relatively good 3pt % and determines they have the scope to be a good enough/sustainable 3pt shooter. It’s certainly not 100% though, so there...

Re: Another draft model!
Each position has slightly different statistics that are relevant for their type of position and for players to be considered draftable by the model need to hit the minimum thresholds set. There are a few stats for each position where The model is not as strict, but if a player misses one of these t...

Another draft model!
Hi all, Thought it was time I had a crack at putting together a draft model. Check out the high level details (I put together an easy to read process flow) and the results at: https://goo.gl/YVBkdn (Crow - sorry I did see your question from last week, sorry have been busy with work and putting this ...

Re: Machine Learning scout for the Milwaukee Bucks
The scout said the bucks needed to rebound better and keep getting points in the paint to put them in a good position. They did both of these in Game 6 and pulled off a great win. 50 points in the paint and a TS% of 57.6% to go with 87.2 DREB% and 17.5 OREB%. Hit all the targets they needed to and p...

Re: Machine Learning scout for the Milwaukee Bucks
For this series with Boston, like you said no crazy lineup change with them is going to matter a whole lot. I would be finding delly more minutes though at point. Just reduce Bledsoe a little. Rebounding is the key for me....in my Boston machine learning scout, beating Boston on the boards almost al...

Re: Machine Learning scout for the Milwaukee Bucks
Joe prunty is copping heat from basketball twitter world for tactics and lineups but I’m going to cut him some slack, I think he’s done a fine job with taking over mid season and doing what he can with what he has. It would take a ballsy coach to flat out cut Bledsoe’s minutes right down in the play...

Machine Learning scout for the Milwaukee Bucks
Finally got to it! In this post, the machine learning scout dives into the detail of the Bucks most used lineups and starts to answer: • What the bucks starters prioritize that goes against NBA trends • Why the bucks starters struggle with Thon Maker • What Brogdon lineups do well vs the same lineup...

Re: Fixing the Cavs with A.I
Hey Crow....sorry for the delay on the bucks scout. I finally have got around to having a free day and getting it done.
Just need to put it into a post and will try look for some video to match some of the findings. Post should be up in the next 24 hours.

Re: Controlling the offense with "Situational Fouling"
Yeah it was a lengthy post for sure. But just wanted to put some context behind the lack of defensive analytic and the widening gap I see in the league between O AND D. Many people read my posts who aren’t necessarily analytics nerds either, so I tried to explain where I was coming from upfront and ...

Controlling the offense with "Situational Fouling"
Hi, Latest post is up which looks at the defensive end and bridging the gap between highly efficient offenses and lagging defensive schemes. I look at "Situational Fouling" and how it can be used as a strategy to improve a teams defensive rating and control the offense through lower shot q...

Re: Fixing the Cavs with A.I
Thanks for the comments independent_variable, and don't worry i don't take any feedback to heart or the wrong way. With any of my posts/projects I try and solve questions & problems in a way that I haven't seen publicly before and there are certainly always ways to improve, so thanks for the que...
