Jokic is number 1?? How did he get such a high DRPM?
I've heard that he's really good at denying his man getting the ball, and some other things we don't really think of when grading defensive bigs. We tend to focus solely on rim protection.

Bayesian RAPM

This Topic has been split off from http://www.apbr.org/metrics/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9517 I am working with a 20 year RAPM dataset (1997-2017) to develop a new BPM formulation. With a pure linear statistical plus minus, here are the residuals: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IcYySAnIZNhSAdy3m...

What Programming Language Do You Use?

Back in grad school, I had access to SPSS, which I found phenomenal. Now that I no longer have access to SPSS, I spent some time learning R, and I've begun learning Python.

What do you guys use? Which do you find the best?

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

It seems like the Luka Doncic comparisons and low rating (from 538) are based simply on biographical data:

"This year, we’ve introduced simple projections for European draftees based on biographical data: specifically, their age, draft position, height, weight, position "

Re: John Stockton and BPM

From the About BPM page: "Assist% is a linear term, but assists also figure in both of the interaction terms in the regression, so the specific coefficient for this linear term has no meaning by itself." Yea I guess I'm just not understanding how it has no meaning by itself if it is included as one...

John Stockton and BPM

Hey I have some questions regarding how BPM is calculated, using John Stockton as an example. 1. Looking at basketball-reference's explanation of BPM, the coefficient value for assist % is negative. Does this mean Stockton gets docked for having a high assist percentage? Or am I reading that wrong? ...

Thanks Shadow. Do you plan on doing a prior informed version as well?
