Re: Forum Improvements
This is great. Maybe a good excuse for me to get back on here once in a while. I'm somewhat shocked my password still works.

JaVale and David Lee sporting (pretty sure) career high RAPM ratings.
Just shows how good Kerr and Pop are (and the surrounding talent) at mitigating a player's weaknesses.

Re: The race for the 2020 NBA title
Eventually people will realize that Jokic is, if not the absolute best young player in the league, surely a top 2-3 choice. He's awesome, great passer and shooter. Lots of questions about his defense though, despite RPM, BPM and my own metric thinking he's not as bad as it seems. For Westbrook, he ...

Re: Should the Warriors Trade Klay Thompson?
It's a lot, but "only" $150M or so above what they are paying anyway. If the team is worth close to $4-5B when they move to SF, I'm not sure it even matters.

Re: Profile of team that could best challenge the Warriors
There are plenty of teams that could form to beat GSW, but they have to put aside their individual egos. In the end, that may be the hardest part to replicate.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Models
I don't like when people talk about age as if it's the cause and the effect is "younger equals better". Presumably, most young players leave college because they are the ones that are perceived to have enough talent to be drafted at that time. There are plenty of freshman who test the wate...

Re: Should the Warriors Trade Klay Thompson?
If the Lakers can trade for Klay and bring in PG via free agency next year, could actually be the start of a decent little playoff team. Not a championship team, but can at least make the playoffs and make them matter a little bit. Even if the Lakers offered GSW the #2 pick, the Warriors aren't doi...

nbawowy counts them (or tries to, at least).

Re: Should the Warriors Trade Klay Thompson?
The only way this happens is if McCaw becomes a 38% 3pt shooter on high volume and can replace Klay as starting 2.

I wrote an advanced stats primer years ago. Mentions RAPM at the end.

Re: 2017 draft analytics
What is IT's "value" outside of Boston though? It was never high before he got there. And he's only getting older. I don't see Ainge getting that much in return for him.

Re: 2017 draft analytics
You wouldn't. There's basically no chance that deal happens. I just think the Celtics need to offload Isaiah. It depends what their goal is. If the goal is to beat LeBron in the next 2-3 years, no. They need his talent and they won't find comparable talent coming back. If the goal is to tear it dow...

Re: 2017 draft analytics
Why in the world would Chicago want IT? He's the same age (maybe older?) as Butler...if you're going to rebuild, you do it around youth. That would be an insane trade. I'm not saying it's a good deal. :) This gives the Bulls a way to press the reset button while also remaining "relevant"....
