Re: 2019 free agency

Mavs free agency and trades? They are really going to need improvements.

Re: Improving the Timberwolves

Build up this group while retaining most or tear most of it down? Has that decision already been made or not? Before the coaching decision?

Re: 2019-20 team win projection contest

Does east / west strength gap get bigger? Does conference level win differential get bigger?

Seems like schedule will be even more important for predicting team wins.

Re: NCAA->NBA ML using raw text of historical scouting reports: done!

Which do you think is the bigger issue... GMs not having the right analytics, not getting strong enough guidance from analysts or just not using whatever they have well enough because of own thoughts or scouting guidance?

Re: Next big trade possibilities

Aldridge to the Blazers? DeRozan to Jazz? Mills to Clips?

Or what to Spurs to be that relevant next season?

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets, Rockets, Blazers, Clippers, Thunder, Jazz...

and the race among others for a chance to get in that mix?

In the east will there be sufficient reason to care after the first 6 teams?

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

Hmm.

I guess we really need to line these various RAPMs up.

Re: 2019 playoffs

Raptors win title. 5th oldest on minutes weighted average age (during regular season). Young by historical standards but still almost half a year older than the youngest in modern times. With Gasol's arrival, the effective age went up. Which contenders get older to get into the range of titlewinners...

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

Have you read their about page links to theory and code? Or is your opinion just based on player estimates specific or in general?

The article on theory is sort a podghodge of everything they could think to say. It is more broad than deep.

Re: NCAA->NBA ML using raw text of historical scouting reports: done!

Could this be a factor in the Raptors defeat of the Warriors in the finals?

I am not sure how a fair and thorough analysis of physical dimensions and athletic markers of the two teams would turn out but I have subjective preconceptions about that I'd want to challenge with more information.
