Re: More draft analytics and analytics on draft analytics

Using same approach & data, my projections have a 77% higher correlation with BPM to date than Kevin Pelton's final draft board.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

About 1/3rd of the league GMs have been GMs in more than one place. I think retreads were probably more common in recent past but that is just a guess. Getting a second chance may stay pretty difficult. A number of recent fires probably aren't going to get one, or least anytime soon.

Re: Next big trade possibilities

Sign n trades are pretty rare. I agree Hornets will probably consider. But I doubt they get a lot for it. Of course it depends how much they'd take back and how much cap space the acquiring team has. He seems a little too old for really young teams. They'll say they want maturity & leadership but I ...

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

Assuming Leonard goes to Clippers, how much does that change them? 10th best offense right now. It might improve a few spots but I'd be somewhat surprised if it moved into top 5. Defense is 19th. I doubt that improves much beyond 15th for season. Leonard might have some key games and big moments on ...

Re: 2018-19 lineup analysis

Only half the teams in league have used a lineup for 300 plus minutes, or a bit more than 4 minutes per game for season. Nearly 80% are positive. 2 bad ones were ended with trades (Mavs and Clips). Two are slightly negative (Wizards without Wall and Kings). Pretty weak imo that half the teams did no...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

I Thomas is unlikely to get what he wants, a starting or big minute, high usage job next season. Maybe the Suns will give him a look or try next season. But they didn't last off season. Probably don't want to crowd their precious star Booker.

Re: 2018-19 lineup analysis

What are Hawks doing different in team stats per game in last 10 games compared to previously? Shooting 42 3s game instead of 35 and hitting a bit more. Grabbing 5 more net total rebounds off both backboards. Cut 4 turnovers. Those are the main things. The changes are coming from expected and unexpe...

Re: 2018-19 lineup analysis

Do they know their core is those 5 guys? Maybe not or at least they aren't acting that way lately. Prior to last 10 games they played 4 or more of the five 45% of time. In last 10 games just under 20% of time. It appears that lineups with less than 4 of the core have done well on average lately. I c...

Re: Doncic

Doncic continues to slip on RPM estimate. Down to 1.25. RPM is his best mark imo. Not the per game stuff. It does appear he makes things easier on offense for others AND THAT IS HIS BEST QUALITY NOT HIS DIRECT INEFFICIENT OFFENSE (when you recognize the turnover element). Doncic has the worst on the...

Re: Next big trade possibilities

I can't see Lakers doing sign n trade for Kemba and giving up their first. Maybe sign n trade if they can attach Ingram and other salary ballast and not give up a first or not for awhile. Kemba to Mavs has been mentioned by someone. I don't think it would be a good idea for Mavs if they want a title...

Re: 2018-19 lineup analysis

Hawks' best lineups have Young, Dedmon and Bembry, Collins Huerter. Collins without Dedmon isn't quite as good. Waller-Prince is usually disaster. Bazemore can often be disaster too unless surrounded by these core guys. The core guys have not been used together near enough. Do they know who the core...

I would give Deyonta Davis another shot in NBA. probably Willie Reed too. There are worse bigs in the league.
Davis to the Hawks.

Re: Next big trade possibilities

Teams trade rights to swap draft picks in a particular draft. Could you extend it to right to swap in different years? I don't see why not. Or extend it to right to swap in one of several ways? Could teams negotiate to trade a conditional right to acquire a player under contract at a future date for...

Re: Fixing the Lakers

I don't see how Anthony Davis gets to Lakers this summer. They don't want to give what the Pelicans want- a lot of unused draft picks. During next season maybe if Celtics can't get it done. Best bet is summer of 2020. How are the Celtics supposed to make it work? Trade Tatum, Horford, picks around d...

Re: Fixing the Lakers

Should Lakers go hard after Looney? Yes. How high would the Warriors go to retain? Push them.
