Re: 2019 Free Agency Guide

"Fair salary" might be $8-12 million for a lot of guys by this guide, but I assume many will get less because the available money runs out too quick and teams split the MLE.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

There are 9 teams in west (the incumbents and the Lakers) with legit aspirations to win the 47 plus games next season needed to make playoffs. Somebody will probably face a major injury or chemistry issue or bad luck and fall short. Other teams will seek to get into the mix but I doubt it. In the ea...

Re: What went wrong for Rockets

Conley goes to Utah.

And Paul sits with those who gave him that contract. He might end up traded but it will probably take a lot of work and concessions even the years left, salary, age, injuries, attitude. etc.

Re: Quantifying Player Development In The NBA

Pre-NBA to first year in NBA, year to year in NBA or both? Boxscore or RPM? At total impact level or by stat?

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

Well, looks like the Celtics are going to change. No meaningful trade last season despite all the angst, but now free agent exits?

Re: What went wrong for Rockets

If I were the Jazz I'd getting in touch to hear the asking price for Paul. If they can get him for essentially matching salaries (Favors/Exum/Korver) I think that could be a great high risk move for them. For the Rockets it makes some sense if they can move one of Favors/Capela for value (I'd think...

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

There is a pretty good chance the 2020 conference finals have a completely different group of 4 teams than 2019.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

There is a good chance that last season was the Bucks' peak.

I don't see them getting a title without major change.

Re: 2018-19 lineup analysis

You are right that these adjustments would be appropriate. They could be estimated with more analysis. But it is unlikely, given how bad the data is, to get them to ok much less very good or better. It is also 3 years in a row. Regardless of the factors, there is the goal and how far they are from i...

Re: 2018-19 lineup analysis

I've noted elsewhere that 4 of the 5 most used Jazz lineups were horrible in the 2019 playoffs. I just checked and in 2018 playoffs 6 of 7 of Synder's lineups were negative with half being awful. In 2017 it was 6 of 9 negative and almost all awful. The guy has a really bad record for most used playo...

Re: Next big trade possibilities

What would teams offer for Donovan Mitchell. I'd find out. Now or at the trade deadline.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary

Fact check: Rockets were 8th on team salaries in 2017-18 and 12th in 2018-19. Next season? We'll see.

Re: 2019 playoffs

I wanted to look at guys with usage over 20% in playoffs (and over 100 minutes) by older / younger (28 yrs and up vs 27 yrs and below). The top 10 and top 20 by BPM are evenly split by the to groups. But the minutes weighted average BPM favors the younger group, 3.3 to 2.2 or a 50% advantage for the...

Re: 2019 free agency

Mavs free agency and trades? They are really going to need improvements.
