Re: Seasonal Basketball Operations Associate, Analytics with Chicago Bulls
Has it been decided that this position is AND WILL REMAIN seasonal? Will candidates have a reasonable chance to go permanent (into another position)? Folks may wonder. Tweeted it to a few people. Much appreciated. I wish I had a definitive answer in regards to the length of the position, but I unfo...

Re: Seasonal Basketball Operations Associate, Analytics with Chicago Bulls
Won't be applying mysel, but I'd like to thank you for putting this out here. Absolutely, I know how many great potential candidates are on this forum, so it's the least I could do. I received a lot of help here from NBA personnel before I started working with the Bulls, and I know firsthand how fe...

Re: KenPom Adjusted Stats Calculations?
Just was thinking about this thread from a while back and thought I'd bump it back up. Could anyone provide a more detailed idea of how these calculations would be done? I'd like to do something like this: http://audacityofhoops.blogspot.com/2010/04/opponent-adjusted-four-factors.html but unfortunat...

Re: Individual Game Rating Metrics
Thanks for the responses. Yeah I know it's impossible to truly gauge a player's performance based on box score stats, as well as the fact that it all depends on one's definition of "good." I'm just looking for something that does a decent job recognizing if a guy fills up the stat sheet as well as g...

Individual Game Rating Metrics
I'm aware of Hollinger's Game Score, and I recently discovered that ESPN has a variation of metric which they call ESPN Player Rating. Which of these statistics do you think better measure how "good" of a game someone had? Are there any other simple box score based metrics that do a better job of id...

When Does CBB Reference Update Daily Box Scores?
Does anyone know if box score pages are updated immediately after games end, or do they wait until the following day? I can't remember and was hoping somebody else would. Thanks for the help!

Re: Adjusting defense by the numbers?
Where would I find individual player matchup data? For example, is there a place I could find LeBron James' PPP last season when defended by Kawhi Leonard? I suppose the raw data could be found on Synergy by looking through each player's defensive plays, but is there anywhere else?

Re: How To Identify Similar Defensive Players
Thanks for the good ideas, everyone. The reason I posed the question is because I'm trying to fine-tune my player projection model, which is based around finding similar players and extrapolating performance based on passed results. As it stands, my model first finds players who are similar in terms...

How To Identify Similar Defensive Players
Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone could think of any defensive statistics that capture a player's defensive style of play and/or defensive ability. All I can really think of is steal percentage, block percentage, and defensive rebounding percentage, but I was wondering if there might be m...

Re: 2014 Draft Projection Models
First of all, I really like the work, the system you've built up is very impressive. Second, I was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts about players coming from different levels of competition and how they might project differently. For example, is there anything in your system that could iden...

Scraping Synergy Sports Tech
Does anyone know if it is possible to scrape data from the team pages of the Synergy Sports Tech website? I would like to scrape team and/or individual player data from college teams but am not sure how to go about doing so. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Players and/or Coaches Using SportVU Data
Does anyone know of specific examples where any players and/or coaches have used SportVU data to change something in their game? I'm just wondering if there are any concrete examples where the data has influenced what happens on the court. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
