Re: Near future for the Lakers?

Randle is the best performing of the young 4 but the clock is ticking. Do you pay him around $20 million on next contract? To pay anyone that imo he better be plus 2 on RPM or heading fast to it. Randle was about -2 this past season. I don"t think he gets there next season, end of season or mid-sea...

Not the most liquid market right now, but 5Dimes has the no-vig odds for the Warriors in '17-18 at 52%. There's no way they are 50% in 2020. Not even close.

Re: Inferred playoff RPM?

Thanks for noticing. Yet Butler's on-off numbers were pretty weak in 4 of 6 games. In some blowouts, Bulls mop-up players did well against their Celtics counterparts. Butler therefore looks bad by comparision. http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201704210CHI.html http://www.basketball-ref...

Re: Inferred playoff RPM?

Interesting to see Butler so low. Per Mike G's stats, Butler led the Bulls in eWins for the series.

Pelicans

I've been thinking about the Pelicans a lot over the past couple days and wanted to put this out there for some thoughts. Let's think about two hypothetical deals. 1) If the Pelicans offered Anthony Davis to the Celtics, how much could they get? 2a) If the Pelicans offered DeMarcus Cousins to the le...

Re: TWolves?

One thing to consider about Rose, he is a valuable commodity in terms of jersey/ticket sales and popularity. As far as he's fallen, his jersey was the #12 best selling in 2016-17. He has value outside of on court production that is important to remember when he gets his next contract and the amount...

Re: Kings/Beech

Not that I would expect him to end up here, but this would be an excellent spot for Otto Porter. I would also think about OG Anunoby. The Kings are in a perfect position for him if he has to miss the season. It's OK to be bad in '17-18.

Re: Kings/Beech

Honestly, this could be a lot worse. I'm making a lot of assumptions in the graphic below, so we can tweak if need be. Obviously, Rudy Gay is gone. Afflalo only has a $1.5M guarantee, so he should be waived. Anthony Tolliver has a $2M guarantee, but is only slotted to make $8M next season. They need...

Re: What to do with Blazers?

The goal should be to package Turner with a pick, maybe even the lower 2, to get him off their books. Crabbe and Leonard are overpaid, but at least they can occasionally add something to the team. If no one will take Turner, Crabbe and a pick should actually be able to get something in return. I li...

Re: What to do with Blazers?

Portland is in really big trouble. They have 15 guys under contract for 17-18. Festus Ezeli is only guaranteed for $1m, so he's absolutely gone. Pat Connaughton & Tim Quarterman are both non-guaranteed. They have 3 1st-round picks, so I would expect either a trade or at least two draft/stash picks. ...

Re: Raptors

Agreed, I don't understand why he doesn't have to deal with nearly as much criticism. He's a good player during the regular season, meh during the playoffs. Awful at defense. I think it doesn't come up as much as with Harden because DeRozan doesn't have nearly as much obvious defensive mistakes whe...

Re: Pistons

Of course, getting out from Tobias just leaves them with a hole in their rotation. If making the playoffs is that important, they may have to accept paying the tax. I'm not convinced Pope will get quite that much ($22 million) unless the Nets offer him that deal. I think I saw somewhere that they w...

Re: 2017 draft analytics

What is IT's "value" outside of Boston though? It was never high before he got there. And he's only getting older. I don't see Ainge getting that much in return for him. Great question. He's probably worth close to $30m in surplus value for next year. Looking over the rest of the teams, I have no i...

Re: 2017 draft analytics

I tend to agree with that logic. I think Ainge is hoping to god that Fultz looks so good, that they can let IT walk or trade him mid-season for another piece. I don't think Fultz gets them much closer to beating LeBron in the next 2-3 years regardless. It's going to be a really interesting time for...

Re: Pistons

Pistons are in some trouble. If they waive Darrun Hilliard and renounce Baynes/Udrih/Bullock, they can give KCP just over $22m before it puts them in the tax. I assume paying the tax on this team would be a tough sell, considering they would be bringing back the same core of a team that missed the p...
