Re: Raptors

The Miles signing will help a lot, he's a really great player. I'm pretty confident they'll still be a top 3 East team.

Re: Rockets

Maybe one, if everything goes their way. Really all depends on the Warriors. I think he'll age pretty well, but if the Warriors are still around it probably won't matter.

Re: Record payroll & tax payments

Depends on if the Warriors keep it all together. They'll go over if they do.

Re: Pistons

I don't blame them, but I'd rather have KCP at $20M for next 4 years and Morris than Bradley one a one year deal when he's about to be expensive as a free agent and could leave.

Re: Spacing Rating

Agreed, he just sort of says 3pt shooting and attempt rate matters and is good without justifying it entirely. While I think it does matter, I wish there was at least a regression showing correlation with offensive rating or something. Conceptually, 3pt shooting matters and increased spacing should ...

Re: 2016-17 Celtics

I don't think looking at it from a cost/RPM perspective really makes sense. Cost is heavily influence by playing time too and just looking at it by RPM sort of discounts how hard it is to be elite with increased minutes. Here's all FA signings thus far vs 2016 Wins (which is just an average of WS, W...

Re: Spacing Rating

I like the idea behind it and the methodology is sound. I think it might miss on guys who get respect spacing without actually being good shooters i.e. Wade or Westbrook or LeBron. It's a good way to guess spacing at the very least. With positional tracking data, it would all be moot because we'd kn...

Re: 2017-8 projection for 76ers

I agree that in a vacuum it's a bad contract. Just that the fact it's a bad contract doesn't matter given their cap situation. I think they still like $25M in cap space even after these two big deals.

Re: 2017-8 projection for 76ers

I just don't think the dollar figure JJ got matters. It's a 1 year deal. They had $37M in guaranteed salary for 12 guys going into the off-season, $54.6M in likely space. Who cares if they gave JJ way more than he earned. Even after giving him $23M they had space for a 30% max if they wanted, like i...

Re: 2017-8 projection for 76ers

I think I'd rather have JJ than any of those guys. It's a 1 year deal and they have virtually unlimited cap space.

Re: 2017-8 projection for 76ers

I'm not sure I see a better possible deal out there. They had to overpay to make it a single year AND overpay to bring a useful player to a rebuilding team. Didn't hear rumors about anyone else wanting or being willing to go to the 76ers on a single year deal.

Re: 2017-8 projection for 76ers

I like both deals for the sixers so far. They had so much cap space that spending above market value on one year deals has virtually no opportunity costs.

Re: David Griffin Out of Cleveland

I think you're missing the value of those fringe moves. You have 3 stars, you're not going to have the flexibility to make big moves. All of these small fringe moves Griffin did are why the Cavs have half way decent players around LeBron. JR becoming a complete shell this year and Shumpert regressin...

Re: GM adjusted plus - minus?

If I had a way of doing RAPM set up I'd try it, but I don't. I'm just not sure GM is close enough to action on the court for the potential results to mean anything.

Re: Will Phil Jackson ever lead a team again?

God I hope not, could see him landing an advisor job somewhere. Heard the Warriors rumored for that after West left them.
