Re: GM adjusted plus - minus?

I'd think you would have too. I think GM P-M could be too far out there to really have much value. Even the coaching RAPM wasn't all that useful. I think there are too many outside factors to really be able to attribute actions on the court to coaches/GMs.

Re: Opportunities for NBA teams

My thought on actually creating a career out of this has always been that if someone wants to pay me to do what I'm going to do anyway, that's all good with me. I'm going to be doing statistical analysis of basketball for the foreseeable future either way, people caring about what I have to say enou...

Re: Near future for the Lakers?

It sounds like the new Lakers front office's strategy is the same as the old: "we're the Lakers"

Re: Knicks

It took Baseball a while to adjust to analytics, Basketball will get there within a few years I think. Teams will adapt or die.

Re: GM adjusted plus - minus?

Wouldn't it be similar to the coaching RAPM that was made a few years ago?

Re: Rockets

Best strategy has to be stagger them to always have an elite pg on the court. Would shred bench units defensively.

Re: The Chris Paul to San Antonio "rumor"

You have to think they wait to try and use that cap space on an additional player.

Re: The Chris Paul to San Antonio "rumor"

What a turn of events. If they can get a 3rd star (PG?), they have a real shot at catching the Warriors.

Re: 2016-17 Celtics

I don't think Olynyk getting $15.8M is that crazy, the model looks at player style, age, position just as much as actual impact because that tracks more closely with actual salary. If we're basing salary only off actual expected wins added next year, my projection model has him as adding 3.5 wins ne...

Re: Knicks

Though the Raptors just signed Masai to an extension before the start of the season, no? Could see Griffin as a more realistic option.

Re: 2016-17 Celtics

My salary model expects Amir to get paid ~$8.7M per year and Olynyk ~$15.8M per year.

Those both seem a bit high to me, but around the range to expect.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Awards

I know Bradley suffered this year from weird on-off issues with defense (like Kawhi), but no stats say he was even an elite one on one defender. I get respecting players opinions, but I know players overvalue one on one performance more than analytics say its worth. A single stand out game for AB wh...

Re: BIG3 Stats

Couldn't agree more, very well put together. We'll see how it, and all the players, hold up this summer. Curious to see ratings.

2016-17 NBA Awards

MVP: Westbrook
DPoY: Draymond
Executive: Myers
CoY: D'Antoni
MIP: Giannis
ROY: Brogdon
6MoY: Gordon

Anyone have any issues with these? Feels like the voters did a pretty good job this year, no glaring issues to me.
