Re: 2019 Finals: Warriors - Raptors

Using the Cousins money on a decent wing would've likely been the better option there. Outside of that though I don't see too many different moves the Warriors could've made.

Re: How did you do for 2018/2019 regular season?

For fun I tried for a stretch this season and went 91-30 (moneyline). Just my own intuition for each game, no real analysis done. No money here, so no money made unfortunately, lol.

Re: 2019 playoffs

I'd probably count Fisher/Horry as dynastic dudes, Horry just bounced around a bit.

Re: 2019 playoffs

Not really sure where to ask, but does anybody have a playoff only rapm for the entirety of the pbp era? Eg '97 through this season?

Re: What went wrong for Rockets

I'd have the Jazz #2 in the West after such a trade, with Houston a fairly close #3. Bit of a flipping of the roles there. GS still #1 if healthy and all back. Not sure exactly how it'd work for Mitchell, keeps him a bit fresher for sure and would certainly teach him a thing or two in practice. The ...

Re: What went wrong for Rockets

If I were the Jazz I'd getting in touch to hear the asking price for Paul. If they can get him for essentially matching salaries (Favors/Exum/Korver) I think that could be a great high risk move for them. For the Rockets it makes some sense if they can move one of Favors/Capela for value (I'd think ...

Re: 2019 Draft

Yep, that's Grant. I see him as a starting 4 someday, might have enough weight to play some 5, but I'd be surprised full time. Reminds me a bit of a Trevor Booker. Not as bouncy and more skill to his game but mostly just a high energy smaller big who can do a bit of everything. Maybe current Thaddeu...

Re: 2019 Draft

Here's a rough tiering of guys I like as prospects. Leaving off internationals and Garland as I don't feel I've caught enough of them to accurately judge at all. Tier 1 Zion Tier 2 Culver Hunter Washington Williams Tier 3 Edwards Morant White Alexander-Walker Barrett Horton-Tucker Thybulle Clarke Bol

Re: Was it a good/bad shot?

The putback thing I wouldn't worry about too much at that stage, but it certainly wasn't a good look.

Was a pretty good shot though :D

Re: 2019 playoffs, West round 1

Korver's battling a knee injury of some sort, been surprised to see him at all, even slower than normal. Mitchell/Royce/Ingles/Crowder/Gobert is the lineup I want to see. Strong in fairly limited RS minutes (+20.5 in 102 minutes -6th most). Theoretically works similarly with Favors (terrible, but on...

Re: Reconstructing Box Plus/Minus

Did you just try to minimize squared error the first time around? If you're looking to reign in outliers you could look at raising your p in your L^p norm minimization? Not sure how much that'd change your average error or how well it'd work, but worth looking into.

Re: 2019 playoffs, West round 1

Let us never again speak of the 'defense' Utah played last night. As a Jazz fan I pray to all things holy I don't have to see it again this series.

Re: Reconstructing Box Plus/Minus

I'm not sure how position would be implemented reliably from the box score, height/weight or what? It is relatively easy to determine position strictly from the box score. No, height/weight would not be included. It seems kinda circular at that point. Not to say it wouldn't work. Would you lean tow...
