Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Which teams in general have people found themselves watching this season? Jazz, Warriors, Rockets, and Sixers seem to be the teams I've been watching more than anybody else so far.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Yeah, I've been relatively happy with how Clark himself has played so far. Shot being off is the only major issue imo. Don't think he can be a sharpshooter or anything, but he can certainly do better than he is now (33% type shooter). His 3PAr is actually a bit too high for my tastes. Doesn't see th...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Watched quite a bit of Rockets so far this season and they've been pretty awful (I'm Gary Clark's biggest fan), and it's been pretty ugly, not a lot of effort out there, and the offensive system is looking very bleh if Harden/CP3 aren't locked in.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

I could see it being a bit higher. But on average I'm not sure dink lineups are that much inferior to the higher minutes lineups to move it too much.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

There can only be a couple teams (~5) with good-great net ratings, I'm not sure if it's provable, but it's not too surprising that approximately the same percent of lineups will find great success. At higher minutes that percentage should grow, as coaches are likely playing their better lineups the ...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Ahh, easy mix up, yeah, it's been weird, I don't know why they don't just switch to that as the starting lineup.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Hmm, not sure why you're so high on the starters. Bbref has them at -8/100 in 65 minutes. Agreed that Quin needs to settle the rotation (I don't need to see Udoh without injuries, need to pick a primary of Allen/Burks/O'Neale - I like Burks), though now is the time of season to do it. Unfortunately ...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Haven't been real impressed with my Jazz so far :( Can't get in any sort of offensive rhythm (Rubio has been bad, and Mitchell has gotten dinged up at inopportune times). Crowder looking very solid is a bright spot. Favors at the 4 experiment probably has to end soon, there were some promising signs...

Is the winner of this contest to be judged by MAE or RMSE?
I prefer MAE, but not a big deal either way.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Still early, but I'm pretty happy with how the lottery picks are looking. Ayton - Defense still a concern, but his offense has looked great, better passing than I expected, hope to see him show some real stretch ability at some point (3/6 from 16+ so far). Bagley - He's been real bad, team passing s...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

At the team level I know you can really start counting on the stats after ~20 games, and even 5-6 can give you a decent inkling, but I've never looked at it for individual players and rookies in particular. Anecdotally I know Mitchell started extremely poorly last season for the first ~5 games befor...

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

At the moment, my biggest variances with your projections are that I am higher on the Griz, Warriors and Rockets and lower on Kings, Hawks and Mavs. Thoughts on where we might defer: Warriors/Rockets - I wound up reeling in my highest numbers just a bit and kind of expect them both to dog it this r...
