Re: Euroleague BPM (and, how good is Luka Doncic?)

Doncic had 3 20 plus point games is first 3 weeks. 5 in last 12 weeks. 60% decline in frequency. Almost no year to year change (or improvement) in his rebounding, assists, steals, blocks per minute. The boxscore change is almost all about usage, better ftr, 2pt shooting. 3pt fg% is meh and career w...

Re: 3 pointers

Yes, european experience surely help inspire D'Antoni and the european expansion of use of 3 pointers over time helped demonstrate impact and encouraged NBA use expansion. But I think that the overuse of 3 pointers in NBA is due to statistic analysis , don't you? When Mike D'Antoni was in Europe li...

Re: 3 pointers

At game level, shooting 25 or less 3s isn't a bad indicator by itself. Teams winning a bit more than half of those games. When shooting 40 plus, teams are winning about 60%. Well Houston is winning 85% and the rest of league a bit under half. Houston with more than 40% of such games. In Spanish lea...

Re: Newbie on basketball statistics

It isn't common that insiders reveal what they actually do. But, you can ask. Mostly you have to figure it out yourself. What do you think is important? Why? What are the possibilities? How do you measure importance? It might be that you could get more feedback on your own report than information a...

Re: Newbie on basketball statistics

You could join cleaningtheglass.com and ask Ben Falk. I sent 7 tweets to some analytic folks asking if they have suggestions. Maybe you'll get lucky. With a note in this thread or via private message. Thank you!!!! Edit: I have send him an e-mail. If he answer me I will tell you. Honestly, I do not...

Re: Newbie on basketball statistics

It depends who you are writing for. If it is general public, pick 3-5 important game details that matter most or are the best / worst compared to average. If it is a team you may still want to give priority attention to 3-5 things; but if they are serious, hopefully they will read and consider a re...

Re: Newbie on basketball statistics

Hi all!!! I've got another question. I have found an statistic with ORTG and DRTG, OK, there is no problem. But, then ... associated to this two statistics there is another called "Adjusted Team". How can I calculate this new value from ORTG and DRTG or is calculated from another values? Which ones?...
