Crow, you're awesome! I love going back and reading these old threads that I otherwise wouldn't have.

Re: Pace's Impact on Good/Bad teams

Crow just re-posted a lot of the pace threads that were deleted. I would advise reading those. It's a bit more complicated than I thought. For example, I just ran another regression of pace on TS%, TOR (turnover rate), ORR, and DRR and find that they are all correlated with pace, especially DRR (thi...

Re: Pace's Impact on Good/Bad teams

This is one of those topics that surely existed in the archives before recent events. I took the past 5 seasons of team data and ran a simple linear regression. Here are the results: Call: lm(formula = Pace ~ Diff, data = advanced_5seasons) Residuals: Min 1Q Median 3Q Max -5.4634 -1.8392 -0.4418 1.5...

Re: Hacked

At the minimum, we should probably have a sticky post with that zipped file, so people could search through it.

Re: SportVU

Some of those baseball stats are public, right? Are any of these optical data going to be made public? I have a feeling the answer is "no", at least, not the raw stuff.

Visual Review of 2010-2011 by ezPM

I just posted this on my blog. It should be self-explanatory. (But if not, ask me.)

Re: Aging curves

For the survivor bias issue, it might help to classify players into groups according to age of exit from the league. Look at all players who played until age 25, 26, etc. See what the trends are like within those groups and between groups.

Re: 2011 Western Conf. Playoffs priview

Seems to me if you go by the numbers in any of our favorite win metrics, the home team is favored in every single matchup. It's only a matter of how many games the series go. Not to say I think the home team will win every matchup, I just don't see any way from the stats to confidently predict any u...
