Re: Team Management: How Solid?

2 of the 3 are rookies, and Booker one of the youngest in his class. Using WS on a team without many team wins won't show much. Player skill is all they can evaluate, and Booker is one of the more valued young prospects in the NBA. I don't think anyone would consider not re-signing them, at least no...

Thats fair, just don't see them as straight "bad".

Re: Team Management: How Solid?

The Suns have a young team, you're essentially grading a young team's front office poorly because the player aren't good yet. I don't think they're great, but they're certainly not bad.

Re: Team Management: How Solid?

The Suns haven't been poorly managed IMO. They've got a fair bit of young talent and a few good looking draft assets upcoming. The Sixers were great until the Hinkie firing.

Re: Team Management: How Solid?

About half, voted 60% but maybe a hair lower. Using the above post as a template: This is how I would rank each franchise's current management: Great: Spurs, Warriors, Cavs, Heat, Jazz, (5) Good: Raptors, Celtics, 76ers, Grizzlies, Trail Blazers, Nuggets , Thunder, Rockets(7) Average: Bucks, Pacers,...

Re: 2014 Draft Rookie Extensions

If he gets that big an offer I don't see a way they can match. Their cap sheet is at $140 million with holds right now. They've got Dipo/Adams/Kanter at 20/25/18 mil respectively, add Roberson and you've got a team in the repeater tax that may not make the 2nd round with no way to improve.

Re: 2014 Draft Rookie Extensions

Rumor I heard was Roberson turned down 4/48 a year ago, and there's a ton of money around still. I don't doubt a team like Denver or Brooklyn just messing w/ OKC to see if they pry a guy away. In general, 2 rules of late: 1. Whatever you think a guy is worth, add about 4 mil and that's the new marke...

Re: 2014 Draft Rookie Extensions

Deserving vs. getting a max rookie extension are pretty different in the current climate. Just about any reasonably productive/promising young player will likely get one. To put an idea with it, KCP and Porter are most certainly getting one from the 2013 class, and guys like Roberson rumored to be g...

Re: The Chris Paul to San Antonio "rumor"

I'd give it 2 percent on a random off chance, but I'd guess it would be something a rival exec could toss out as a story. Just seems so un Spurs like.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Models

Not much in the way of statistics but Jonah Bolden interests me. Solid numbers in the Adriatic league projected currently 2nd round, some saying he could and should be higher. Won the rising star award, also won by Saric, Jokic, and Zizic. Hoping OKC can get into the 2nd round and get him possibly a...

Re: Statsketball: An Advanced Stats Primer

Oh I saw, but those things still existed lol. Just a little surprised there was nothing along the lines of "there are plus/minus stats which are more complicated but they exist and are good". RPM didn't exist when this was written. It was written December 2013, this intro to RPM was in April 2014: ...

Re: Should the Warriors Trade Klay Thompson?

Been thinking this as well. There's also a pretty distinct chance both he and Green qualify for the DVPE, at which point they're going to want the money. Is he traded sooner I think is the interesting part.

Re: Near future for the Lakers?

Not sure what but I'd guess they'd have to attach a pretty decent asset to Deng. He's older at this point and even in Lowe's recent column he mentioned a first round pick may be needed to move Demarre Carroll, who was still better than Deng and younger, as well as cheaper for less years. The Deng/Mo...

Re: Trade Paul George

Trading your best player almost never works out for the team trading. And even if there's a minor chance he stays you keep him, especially if he qualifies for the DVPE.

Re: Sam Hinkie gone :(

A large part of the issue with him resigning is also in the replacement and lack of ownership accountability. At some point they agreed to go through this sort of rebuild but over the last few months brought in Jerry Colangelo to "assist" HInkie, then a few months later won't allow Hinkie to do his ...
