Hibbert & Search For Truth In Defensive Stats
Re: Hibbert & Search For Truth In Defensive Stats
from 2011-12 to 2014-15, over 4 years, the pacers were the league's top defensive team, allowing just 100.5 pts/100poss. they allowed the lowest 2pt FG% over those 4 seasons at just 45.2%, the 3rd lowest 3pt FG% at 34.2%, and the lowest eFG% (2s and 3s) at only 46.6%...
they ranked just 25th (6th fewest) in most turnovers forced (14.6 forced TO/100poss) so their league best defense was due mostly to shot defense and defensive rebounding (2nd best over that 4 year stretch). hibbert played the 2nd most minutes on the pacers over that time (28 min/g), was a top shot blocker those 4 years (4.4% BS, 2nd most blocks at 641), and his Synergy defensive numbers averaged a low .805 PPP allowed and a 39.2% FG% allowed (Synergy FG%s allowed are lower than actual, but this is still quite good) over that stretch...
he was a defensive beast. maybe not now or recently, but he was back then...
