I could probably do without the cause-effect analysis, but this is a good read on the multi-camera system being implemented across the NBA, SportVU. It's the next big thing. IMO, bigger impact than Pitch f/x, Hit f/x and Field f/x for baseball.

Some of those baseball stats are public, right? Are any of these optical data going to be made public? I have a feeling the answer is "no", at least, not the raw stuff.

That's a great look at the STATS video stuff. Three surprising things, to me at least. I didn't know that STATS LLC is jointly owned by the AP and Rupert Murdoch. Also, I'd thought that these STATS cameras were an NBA project, but the article says that STATS has had to acquire NBA clients one at a time.

And who the heck uses FTP sites these days?

Oh, and good to see that NCSSORS created some networking synergies, thanks to DeanO.
