Hi how are you?
I'm a data scientist who's always loved the game of basketball from afar, but never played the game growing up. I want to do some analysis on things like game theory in basketball and quantify the impact of one player being on/off the court for the rest of his teammates, as well as use graph algorithms to model the synergy between 5 man rotations, but I'm just not that familiar with advanced basketball analytics. I don't understand why one would use per 48 versus per possession versus per play versus pace adjusted data, and the relative strengths/weaknesses of each measure type.
I'm currently reading Thinking Basketball by Ben Taylor as well as Basketball Analytics by Stephen Shea, but it would really be helpful if I could hire someone to meet maybe 1 hour a week and just ask questions so that I spend my time on statistics that are pertinent to what I'm looking to model.
I've been reading the forums and it's clear that many people on here are extremely, extremely, knowledgeable on basketball analytics, and I was just wondering if anyone would be open to being a paid consultant.
If you could private message me if interested or reply here with your email address, I'd love to chat.
Thanks so much.
