Trades

Post by Crow »

There has only been 1 trade in about 105 days.

Only 12 since July 1, 2022, most near draft and a few right before the season started.

I am probably not going to comment on trade rumors but I might on actual trades in next week.

As I've stated before I think NBA teams should trade more to far more and quicker with more realistic asks sooner.

By late tomorrow morning it will be under 100 hours til the trade deadline.

How many GMs will have a "good" or better deadline?

Finney Smith and Dinwiddie were in Doncic's 2nd and 4th worst player players for team +/- on court. Near neutral but nowhere close to 5 best.

Will Irving - Doncic work better than Dinwiddie?
By stats, the biggest differences are that Irving has a higher usage rate but a lower fta rate.

For Nets it is a good or good enough deal. For Mavs, to be determined but they were going nowhere special as is.

Will the defense get worse for Mavs? Will the offense improve by more? Lots depends on other minute changes, usage changes, synergies, team spirit...

Cavs, Heat, Clippers, Raptors and Warriors (in top half, among others) need a move... or several to be that notable in this playoffs.

2 of those 5 made last minute moves.

I am not going to do "grades" but here are some of the moves I liked:

Muscala to Celtics.

The Durant trade probably both ways right now but 1 or both sides might end up less satisfied later.

Warriors bringing Payton 2 back.

Kaminski to Rockets might be alright or better. Very low cost anyways.

Nwora to Pacers where he could show more than Bucks allowed.

Clippers helped themselves, with Plumlee at minimum.

Lakers still not tier 1 and probably not tier 2 but at least they are different and have some chance.

Griz improve depth but already do not use it much. Take Kennard but the moves not made are bigger. Consolidation remains a priority in future.
No major opinion or interest in Knicks.

Like the Thunder moves in at least a mild way. Bazley exit was overdue but at least it finally happened. Scouting / drafting mistake. Saric is likeable and supposedly playing well lately.

Blazers with lots of prospects that I am not interested in / hopeful for.

Spurs continue teardown but are in nowhere-land at this point.

Raptors stood too pat. Not expecting Poeltl to make any major difference in results... unless it is by pushing away from small-ball.

Jazz young core interest me some for future but it is still early and some vets still remain taking time & shots.

Wizards stay meh.
