No change in my assessment of the Wizards.

Raptors 20 most used pairs are 17 negative, 3 positive. The positive have Mitchell Dick Poeltl. Barrett joins them in some positive trios with 2 but no big minute pairs positive. Maybe change part of core and / or Coach. Doubt they get anywhere without significant change or years more of grind.

Thought about following Jazz a bit a few times in last 18 months but no longer interested given the roster moves.

The bottom 13 have SRS of -2 to way way worse. What are the current and future plans? Appropriate or not? Any coaching, management or analytic staff changes coming? Trades?

Lakers:

Starters working but getting less than 5 minutes per game for season.

Next 5 most used lineups, bad to horrendous.

80% of top 20 player pairs negative. The 5 worst all have LeBron. 10 of 10 most used pairs for James are negative, most pretty bad or worse.

The easiest suggestion would be to play the starters with Russell 15 to 20+ minutes. Beyond that, might want to try starters without James more and James with all or almost all bench.

The lineup rotation could be run in those 3 segments each quarter. The 3rd part could have some variation or be set. I might experiment with 2 bigs there. Not sure if I'd use Vincent. Need more info on LBJ at PG with all or near all bench units.



I'd waive a few deep bench, to try other options and to send a message that the situation is dire and unacceptable. I'd make bigger moves and soon but get it started.

James on / off, the big losses are about even on both sides of court. The biggest changes are probably own team turnovers and opponent shooting efficiency.

At home, team is even in his minutes. On road, -15pts / 100p.
December has been horrendous, individual stats and team.

Lakers were missing Reeves last night. But I barely saw any semblance of my lineup design strategy. What I see in the report looks like chaos.



The starting unit with Vincent worked. But it was only 3rd ever use. We'll see if it or a variation with Reeves gets regular use and how it looks later.

3 way fight, Lakers not favored to make the play-in.

Not seeing a strong case for Jazz keeping Markkanen or an obvious trade in off-season. Supposedly GSW was interested. Seems like it would be harder now. Almost certainly would have to involve Wiggins or a Kuminga sign n trade. Maybe a 3rd team.

Heat willing to trade Butler... for what? Their demand level and response to market reactions will determine if they get anything.

Can't see a viable offer from Mavs.

Rockets could / should put a package together from 10 players.

Warriors would have to part with Wiggins and I doubt they do that.

Lakers with an outside chance if Heat would take parts, not getting better offer, preferably if Butler says he would re-sign there but maybe inspite of such expression. Sign n trade would still be possible. As would a take it or leave it offer that might be better than the alternatives.

Spotlight on Kings. How do they change? Play in still possible but not that likely.

5 of 6 most used lineups were positive but not the starters. 90 of the 229 other lineups were positive but 139 were not.

Kings change personnel significantly, prospects not so much.

Sixers one of the worst shortfalls on expectations.

Not promising imo: Jazz, Pelicans, Raptors, Hornets, Bulls.

Probably not but look closer: Blazers, Spurs, Hawks.

Suns, wait to off-season. And Magic.

Heat, will need to study more.

No real clue on Nets til off-season.

Obviously Pistons way better this year. Haven't really looked ahead enough to say much at moment.

Warriors will need more study for this season and beyond.

Next season for the Raptors, I'd probably start Barnes Agbaji Barrett Ingram Poeltl. Quickley and Dick off bench. Emphasize 10 lineups and possibly cut it to best 5 over time.

Assess in January. Consider trading almost anyone if it offers change / better prospects.

If Kings don't blow absolutely everything up, and they probably won't, then the pieces to save are Sabonis and Ellis. Not as lead pieces but building around new lead pieces.

New Hawks GM has about 10 years leading "strategy" for 3 teams. And a President of Basketball Operations to be added later. Will be interesting to watch what changes and to what impact.

Called for 24 minutes per game of Mamukelashvili- Wembanyama here last October. They went with 1.7 minutes per game for season. Mildly negative in that way too short test. How much test / use next season?

Lineup data suggest LaVine was a mistake and should not play with DeRozan. If they do play together, it probably be the lowest leverage, "less important" times (late first, second quarter). And because it worked when all other bigger minute lineups failed, it should mainly or exclusively be Ellis Murray LaVine DeRozan JVal. Emphasize that unless it stops working.

Sabonis should play at little as team will go with LaVine and more with Ellis.
