Pelicans, Griz, Suns all seem to have more immediate promise than Hawks imo.

Outside Knicks, Cavs, Hornets, TWolves hard to find other teams with less immediate promise. Ok add the Pistons.

Wizards, Bulls might escape the very bottom tier next season. Or maybe I am being too easy on them.

How good will Nets be next season. I dunno. Anybody follow them closely with a guess?

Didn't expect a coaching change with Nets right now. Never thought Atkinson was that special but thought they thought he was. Wonder how much more comes out and if the stars had anything to do with it. Did they expect offensive improvement? There could have been excuses made, but maybe not.

Biggest by far lineup for Nets was just neutral. Lacked LeVert. Starters with Levert +10 / 100p.

Nets need a quality (modern?) offensive coach who isn't bad on defense. Some speculated names aren't that.

What about D'Antoni / Thibedeu? Is anyone going to pay D'Antoni more? Anyone going to hire Thibs as Head Coach in 2020 or period? Is Thibs going to accept that?

What are the chances the Wizards hire him? Sixers? Hornets? Cavs? Who else might?

Without a coaching change, I think Timberwolves are almost certain to be a bottom 4 team afain next season. The defense is awful and I see little chance it just organically improves.

The rebounding is meh and might get worse.

Shot selection is good but the results weren't. It might get better but probably not dramatically.

Other GM changes?

Probably not for at least a year. Though maybe Brand gets the axe if they exit playoffs early.

Vlade's probably the next most in danger. Spurs should consider more change if they have another season like this one. Jones may not last long in Phoenix but he probably lasts another year or two. Pistons and Cavs probably wait a year or two as well, though you could make a case to not wait.

Have to see playoffs first, but I could see some possibility that Rockets would consider trading Westbrook this summer or next season. I could see possible interest from Sixers, Pacers, Spurs, Suns. Dunno if any would offer enough to satisfy Rockets.

So what meaningful player could / will join Blazers next season? By exception or less or trade n trade?

I haven't checked yet but it seems more likely they might attract a helpful vet.

Wild possible future: A Davis bolts to the Clippers. LeBron then asks for trade back to Heat.

Unlikely. But not impossible.

Best prospects for McMillan to get another NBA head coaching job in a year or two, may be with Magic, Hornets and Cavs.

Or back to assistant or associate head coach. Or possibly college?

The Pacers should try Brogdon- Warren- Sabonis with 2 of Aaron & Justin Holiday and Doug McDermott a lot early next season. Just tiny minutes this season.

Trade Oladipo. Turner? Probably not, unless really good player, expected great fit, good contract.

Any player adds should be Moreyball oriented and / or rebounders. Give Alize Johnson a decent test.

New Coach should be Moreyball believer. Pacers this season were near last or last by that orientation.

Based on who they have right now, I'd probably suggest the Knicks go with Payton - Bullock - Dotson - Randle- Robinson.

Barrett first off the bench. Ntilikina, Brazdeikis, Knox, Harkless, Gibson as needed.

If they can make changes, do it. Especially on perimeter.

Reviewing / updating some past comments in this thread:

Gobert down big on offensive rebounding and huge on blocks compared to last playoffs. Cut his TO%. Big improvement in his on and on/off but may not be about him that much.

Suitors for him? Probably not many. Could still see Raptors but not some of the others I named a year ago. Maybe Warriors. Maybe Mavs.

Most likely he re-signs with Jazz. Maybe traded later.

"How many teams will be in top 10 in 2021-22 that aren't there now? I'd guess it could be as many as 5 or as few as 1." (Also from Sept. 2019)

At this moment, I'll guess 3-4.
