How many 2023 All-Stars won't be in 2024 group? I'd guess 3. Probably won't be more than 5.

Is Jimmy Butler the biggest snub ever for All Star selection?
He's a 6-time allstar, 4-times all-NBA 3rd team. And this year he has his 2nd-best ever (after 2021) PER, WS/48, and BPM.
PER (25.6) is 9th in the league. Ahead of Curry, LeBron, Kawhi, Tatum, Morant, Sabonis, Haliburton, Markkanen, Mitchell, ...
BPM (7.5) is 6th best, ahead of Shai, Dame, Durant, Davis, and all those listed above.
WS/48 (.245) is equal to Embiid and below only Jokic.

While he's missed some games, he's still 8th in Win Shares and 10th in VORP.
He's one of the guys who did not make the allstar team but will be all-league anyway.
Top 15 but not top 25.

I know Irving being a starter kinda screwed everything up, but I don’t know what the hell the East Conf. coaches were thinking.
I mean DeRozan, Holiday and Adebayo over Harden, Butler and Porziņģis? Seriously?!
A similar thing with Williamson as a starter from the West.
However, the West Conf. coaches selections were significantly better overall, except for somehow choosing Jackson Jr. over Davis, Edwards or Gordon.

I also have him currently 13th in the league on my private pure plus minus metric. Butler has been persistently underrated in recent years, with (due) focus put on his postseason impact, but no allusion to him being amongst the very best in the game overall. Were I wanting to be controversial, I would say that I think a healthy Butler is at least as valuable as a healthy Durant, if less obvious in being so.

When a team is winning X% of games, they MUST have Y allstars -- unwritten and unbreakable rule.
This rule goes back to BJ Armstrong ... Kevin Duckworth ... ...
Klay Thompson over Damian Lillard, a couple of times, still irks.
James Worthy over Larry Nance ... Joe Johnson over anyone.
Butler led all players in Win Shares in last year's playoffs. Few non-Finalists have done that: LeBron in '09, Jordan '89,'90
