Crow, fair enough re: advanced metrics generally. My observations were intended to be limited to a narrow class of such metrics and not applied generally across the board. In fact I noted that many advanced metrics are extremely useful and have added (and continue to add) much that is helpful in furthering understanding of the game.

Ryan Parker is the main person who addressed the boxscore data is only a rough estimate of true ability or future performance issue. Before joining a team who may or may not pay adequate attention to that point while probably dismissing ASPM and RAPM.
