2nd year compared to first: big improvement in 2 pt and free throw shooting and FT rate. Improvements to offensive rebounding, block rate. But big increases in fouls and turnovers. Fouls only a mild concern by career rate, turnovers wouldn't be. Still Winshares per 48 and PER above league average. BPM improved but weak (in part because of low assists). RPM near league median. Slightly worse than Derick Favors, Jabari Parker and Thon Maker but slightly ahead of Zach Randolph and Dwight Powell. Yeah dump that young guy with near the minimum salary. Next team up.

How do you develop a prospect? Play them enough in NBA to make an informed decision. Practice, work habits, D league behavior, off court or whatever else pale to playing him enough for real. Did Wood fail his 2nd year? If he did many many others did far worse and yet remain.

Is he really 6-11 and 220? That's like a 6' guy who weighs 144 -- think Iverson minus 20 pounds.
Maybe he's just failed to work out and bulk up?
Hard to rate a guy with 107 season minutes -- most of which came in blowouts.

6-11 220, 230 will probably become more common as years go by if accompanied by quick feet, some offensive game. Some guys real close to these measurements are A Davis, Gallinari, Saric, Mirotic, Henson, Leuer, Willie Reed, Jerebko. Guys like Maker and Noah are taller and comparatively skinnier. Many of these listings may be dated.

The small sample size of minutes is a major issue. Of course his RPM is less reliable than the more established players but it could be higher or lower.

There is something about being around a player in person a lot that evaluation from afar lacks but there is also something to be said for 15-20 plus minutes per game for a solid stretch of 20 plus NBA games. The G league might have some value but not that much and not after a certain point. It is a gamble to give real minutes but the only way to get a better answer. Garbage minutes is not enough to uncover possible value. With Wood, I'd think at least one more good try would be a reasonable option, especially for a team that doesn't have better options or ideas. Most players have and will always have flaws. Sometimes GMs and Coaches can't get past them for certain young players even though they do for other players.

In his 10 NBA games where he got 10 plus minutes (spread out over 2 years), he put up 7 pts on 50% fg% with 5 rebounds in an average of 16 minutes. That is pretty good production. In the 20 games he got less minutes he wasn't much. Which data set do you give more weight to? I'd want more data.

He can get you a steal and a block here and there. He has the reach to get some offensive rebounds. On offense it is about what you allow him to do and tell him not to do.

He hasn't been consistent and that has done him in but can you fairly conclude that for forever without a more consistent test?

There are worse players in the league and players with less potential potential.

PF or C? Body and game look more like,OF but lineup data suggests more use at C. Effectiveness surely impacted by type of other big, systems, opponents, etc. He might fit better in one or more situation over others.

With Bucks? Just signed Lopez. Ily before that. Parker still out there. And wanting 10x the money Wood might get.

Good to great summer league may not mean much but better than doing less.

He wants a full guaranteed contract. I would too. If he can't get it, he should go overseas and / or get new agent.

Makes all-summer league first team.
