I am seeing some BPM estimates at BRef that I find hard to believe.

Like for Dillion Mitchell.

That statline doesn't get even a +3???

Very early for RAPM but +13 on it.

+6.5 BPM here: https://barttorvik.com/playerstat.php?l ... d=20250501
Still seems low. But the initial focus on the more than 100% increase over BRef.

The difference varies. For Kalkbrener it is about 4. For Johni Broome about 8. Some less or very little.

Perhaps something is being done differently.

I think it's due to the BPM at Sports Reference being tied to their small sample adjusted team ratings while the Bart Torvik BPM being tied to its projected team ratings. Cincinnati is down at 79 in the SR ratings while it is at 28 on Bart Torvik.

Here's the Sports Reference adjusted team ratings with wild early season variance.

Thanks for the information.

Too early to really matter but prefer to understand.

2025 draft class may not be as amazing as the hypesters claimed. And / or they are focused on the wrong guys.

Doing initial tracking on 85, while dismissing many others.

Will try to avoid paying attention to BPM and RAPM for awhile. Maybe next month. Til then "offensive and defensive ratings" have some utility.

Not sure how RAPM is for college prospects scouting wise, you’d want a high number of course but with a lot of players not seeing each other + difference in conference strength, feels like it could vary a ton and cross comparisons could be rough

As indicated above, this was a temporary issue that is now understood and in the process of lessening.
