Predict total number of games won by playoff teams.
Never mind those who are out already, just add 4 wins to whatever the remaining 8 teams might win.
Low (error) score wins.
Tiebreaker ?

My guesses:
SAS 4 - 2 Min
OKC 4 - 1 LAL
NYK 4 - 2 Phl
Det 4 - 2 Cle

OKC 4 - 3 SAS
NYK 4 - 3 Det

OKC 4 - 2 NYK

tm - W
OKC 16
NYK 14
SAS 11
Det 11
Phl 6
Min 6
Cle 6
LAL 5

Deadline 8 PM EST Mon. -- today!

OK I've drafted 3 'dummy' entries to run against.
SRS supposes the higher regular-season SRS will prevail, by one win per 3.00 SRS advantage.
The other 2 predict the team higher/lower in the alphabet will win their series 4-2. Dummy and dummier.

Code: Select all

tm now MG err srs err a>z err z>a err
Cle 5 6 1 6 1 16 11 6 1
Det 5 11 6 14 9 6 1 10 5
LAL 4 5 1 4 0 14 10 6 2
Min 5 6 1 6 1 10 5 6 1

NYK 6 14 8 11 5 10 4 6 0
OKC 5 16 11 16 11 6 1 10 5
Phl 5 6 1 5 0 6 1 14 9
SAS 5 11 6 11 6 6 1 16 11

total err: 35 33 34 34
I'm in last place today. Separations will form as teams are eliminated.

Note: In previous posting, I erroneously gave Phl a win they didn't have.
Meanwhile I've surged into 2nd place. SRS had the inside track on LA and Phl.

SRS correctly called Lakers failing to take a game vs OKC and also a game closer on the Sixers sweep.
They are currently one win closer on the Knicks, though that seems likely to change.
I am closer by 3 on the Pistons.

If the Knicks win one game, I win the contest by 2. If they win 2 or more, I win it by 4.
If the Spurs sweep, that anti-alphabetical entry finishes a close 3rd.

Mgoo over straight numbers. Or letters.

Well, I had the advantage of seeing the first round, and it looked like the Knicks were primed; the Pistons looked rather spent.

It might split more hairs to predict team Losses as well as Wins. Does a guess that the Knicks go 16-3 deserve to beat a guess of 16-7? Or do the wins by their opponents amount to the same difference?
