I am performing a quick statistical analysis in my stats class regarding NBA stats that are found on basketballvalues.com.

I have a few questions regarding column headings/terms.

1) SimplePointsFor - Is this the total amount of points that are scored by a player's team while he is in the game?
2) How is SimpleOffRtg and SimpleDefRtg calculated?
3) How are the weighted categories calculated?

I hoping that there is a correlation between a few of these statistics and player's salaries (although I suppose that some horrible deals - aka Rashard Lewis, may throw this analysis out of whack).

Pts for and against per 100 possessions.


3) How are the weighted categories calculated?

There are some papers and articles about the correlation between productivity as measured by various metrics and player's salaries out there if you want to search for them (probably here and at wageofwins.com, http://godismyjudgeok.com/DStats/ and elsewhere).
