Lineup Pairs Question

Here's something I've been thinking about.
I sometimes look at lineup data for clues about how best to fit players together.
Has anyone seen evidence that a certain pairing is very good for one of the players, but very bad for the other?
For example, imagine a situation where a particular pair nets out to zero when they are on the court together, but one of them is playing way better than his average level and the other is playing way worse than his average level while in that pairing.
Setting aside recent evidence, at one point I thought that was true of Porzingis and Doncic.
It seemed that when Porzingis was on the floor, the extra spacing and the picks KP was setting were helping Doncic a lot, but Porzingis himself was consistently playing worse with Doncic. Both his usage (obviously) and efficiency would fall. He was better off with Brunson who was not only getting him the ball more often, he was getting it to him in better spots where he could be more efficient.
It would be interesting to not only see the net +/- of a pairing, but also how each of them were performing relative to their own norms within that pairing because both may not benefit or be hurt equally.
