Hi all,
First of all, apologies for repeating a post I’m sure has been replied.
Apart from that I would like to know if anyone knows how to do the expected eFG without having the shot and defense distance, any approximation or calculation with boxscore?
Thanks

Re: An article about artificial Intelligence in basketball, published on Science's website
Seems to be nice, will be funny like coach having this tool, because if you know for example how your opponent defense the pick and roll you can put it on the diagram and see what will be the next movement easy way in the middle part of the game.

Re: FIBA world cup 2019
Well, this is interesting not for the draft but in general a lot of players can be explode due to style of game or confortable mates.
Apart from that, I think Serbia, Spain an Greece are the favorites. Of course USA team but is not new they can leading the competition always.

New defense metric by 538
Hi, This is another gold article by 538 guy, the issue here is we can’t use in europe or minor league we don’t have access to second spectrum or another tracking system. While US and NBA are leading the world in all fields, europe are years ago. Two questions about this: -What do you think about art...

Re: Goldsberry's Maps
I respect a lot the Kirk’s work, nevertheless I think the real analysis come by numbers, chart shots are a trend like some season plenty of teams play pick and roll in the corner, high double screen, some special stagger or any specific situation in the game, he is a geographer and the charts are ve...

Re: Reconstructing Box Plus/Minus
I think with boxscore is fine and very helpful to those who hasn’t have play by play or another tracking system, BPM still rolling the models to make predictions so I believe is pretty good.

Re: Quick / modest proposal for paying collegians
It’s difficult because they are not getting money at the moment but they are going college for “free”, maybe plenty of these guys didn’t go college if basketball didn’t give the opportunity. In Europe and other countries is completely different, the issue here is the money are making the TVs and col...

Re: P values in your basketball stats
Maybe this is not usual, but for me make sense do some hypothesis contrasts with a group of players and another, or maybe can work to hired some players and compare to others, is pure statistics and maybe are not worthy. NBA have a lot of data per player and per team, tracking, and doing some analys...

P values in your basketball stats
Hi, With the new number of ‘The American Statisticia’ treating about the use of pvalues I would like to know if is frequent or sometimes and when do you use pvalues, with high numbers of repeations like in NBA is possible to use pvalues in some cases. What do you think? Article link: https://tinyurl...

Re: Open debate/discussion
Thanks Crow.
So the perfect thing here would be calculate the %efg for total and then do the average and the sd to see the consistency, making both and see.

Open debate/discussion
Hi all, I have and answer to open a debate or discussion about some metrics. For example the eFG, x player did 10 games you get the shoots and then take it into the formula and thats the accumulated eFG for that player but could be more appropriate statistically get the 10 eFG and get the average? T...

Re: Play by play data
Thank you very much, this give me an idea how it is but the issue here is working with pbp for europe and other leagues differents than NBA, the data need to be structured to be analyzed. The difficult for me is to get the proper table structured, first scrapping (is tedius but can be solved with co...

Re: Play by play data
Hi, Thanks for reply. First of all, the issue here is scrapping data which is tedious and have too much code effort for those who didnt know much code, just focused on analysis. Is easy typical copy paste. Then the problems come when you need pbp in a table summarizations, and that need to be done w...

Thanks in advance
