Re: One Year RAPM and Weighted Ridge Regression
I think non-prior RAPM can be very helpful, as both Kevin and PerMaximum have pointed out. The idea of understanding single season performance is decidedly different than the one of out-of-sample performance. As for doubting the validity of RAPM because Ronnie Price comes out on top, answer me this ...

Re: Free Agent and Salary Database?
Thanks for the great resources on salaries. Any thoughts on getting a comprehensive list of free agents by year? I figured that this would be the tougher piece of data to acquire.

Re: Questions and Comments on ASPM
Mike is right: OLS regression will yield an average value. But who said we immediately should run to OLS regression? I'm not singling out Nathan here, just wondering why OLS is privileged so much when we think about modeling in a "causal" framework.

One More Try: NCAA Tournament Modeling
I had posted something about this just before the board went down about 10 days ago, and it appears to have disappeared. I will try again: I've created some unique datasets related to the NCAA tournament and have successfully fit a survival (event time) model to the data. It appears to preform bette...

Re: No correlation between salary and wins?
Anyone have thoughts on Tom Haberstroh's article which attempts to assign relative importance to drafting and spending in terms of producing wins?

Re: NBA draft prospects.
I wouldn't really call Mike Conley a false positive, especially after this year.
