Free Agent and Salary Database?

Post by Chilltown »

I'm getting ready to write my thesis and am looking for an easy way to gather data about each year's free agent crop and year-by-year salaries. Does anyone know of a place to get this data in a convenient format?

Thanks in advance.

There are lots of salary databases.

Maybe this one will work for you:

If not, maybe be more specific about whether you want future free agent classes or past ones.

basketball-reference has salary data going back for a number of years. They now have current contract data as well.

Thanks for the great resources on salaries. Any thoughts on getting a comprehensive list of free agents by year? I figured that this would be the tougher piece of data to acquire.

just google search (year, e.g.2011) nba free agents and add espn if you want. there are pages like this one out there http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/stor ... ents-11-12 for past years.

I wrote a quite in depth analysis on salaries and player efficiency of point guards.

Summer of 2012 point guard market: http://www.celticsblog.com/2012/9/16/33 ... ard-market
Price of a point guard in 2011-12: http://www.blogabull.com/2012/9/9/33053 ... oint-guard

You will find that especially useful I think.
