Re: Observations with EPM
In eWins, avg = 1.00 A 1.50 player is 50% better than that, and .50 is half as good; so it's straightforward to say how much a player has improved or declined -- defined as how many more wins he's given his team. Below zero is an experiment that didn't or hasn't worked out. I notice the EPM has a sm...

Re: Observations with EPM
I did not know that avg is the same as median. I don't even know how one could recognize that. Do you count players with just one minute? The median NBA 3-point FG% (of 569 players) was .328 last year. Median 2fg% was .529, eFG% .533, FT% .763 NBA averages were, respectively .360, .545, .543, and .7...

Re: WNBA 2025 eWins etc.
Wilson and Collier flip #1 and #2. Collier does a few things less or worse late but not scoring efficiency. Wilson improves shooting a bit but also shoots significantly more and rebounds more in August. A'ja Wilson missed a few games, and Napheesa Collier was almost declared MVP. Then Collier was o...

LeBron vs Jordan
Two guys whose postseasons are even more dominant than their regular seasons, and who are most often said to be greatest of all time. Comparing their playoff game records. Competition varies and must be considered in playoffs. The one stat that covers this is BPM. For this exercise (and others) I'm ...

Re: Observations with EPM
Rookies start out estimated around -2.3 to-3. If they play to -2, they are an average player. ... If you rate better than -1, you are or about a top 200 player. +0.7 or better makes you a top 100. Fractional impact matters. Wouldn't an avg player in any PM be zero by definition? It looks like -3 EP...

Re: Do 3-D players abruptly lose effectiveness?
I used next 3 years (age 32-34) to mediate the ' one bad year for whatever reason ' phenomenon. We do expect most players to drop off around this age, but not all do so drastically. In the course of a good season a 3-D-type can be shooting poorly and not have a 'bad' game because he can still pass a...

O-D is ORtg minus DRtg and should not deteriorate due to less Usage.
Almost all these guys took big hits in O-D, even if other stats show modest decline.

A nice ESPN article on statistical milestones that players might reach this year. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/46011188/2025-26-nba-milestones-all-points-assists-lebron-james-nikola-jokic They don't specify Regular Season for these, so I'm adding the Playoff totals and re-ranking players. &qu...
