Re: Dirk, Wade, Vince, Melo, Pau career retrospectives

Thanks, added Pau Gasol (duh) Vince Carter this year has career high 3PAr (.662), 3fg% (.410), 2fg% (.493) and TS% (.583); along with career low FTr (.122) and Ast% (9.3). Dunks are 4% of all his FG, just off his career avg. But of his 2ptFG, 14 of 67 (21%) have been dunks. At his dunkingest, it was...

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

With tarrazu holding a comfy lead, everyone else should be okay with fewer things going his way. About 18 teams are either above or below everyone's predictions. The other 12 are going to decide this contest. To foil the trajectory that trzu currently enjoys, these things (some or most) should happe...

Re: Doncic

Doncic still has crazy splits in his numbers based on number of days' rest. I wondered if other top rookies have shown this tendency. Here are the last few who had rookie seasons with at least 4 Win Shares and 2 VORP: . Dal yr rest ORt DRt O/D -tm Doncic 19 0 101 110 .92 .017 Doncic 19 1 105 109 .96...

Re: 4 on 4, one more time

I played a lot on a small neighborhood court where 4 on 4 was the norm. 5 on 5 was impossible, and 3-3 was also cool. More like half court, but with a basket at either end. On a full size court 4 on 4 is a workout. But there is a premium on speed, since a 4-3 fast break is significantly more advanta...

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

As we near season's end, all projections should be converging, I would think. Some teams may be obviously tanking, or resting, but that's hard for an analytical system to predict.

In 4 days, your lead has shrunk from .43 to .23
Everyone else here considers that to be good news.

Re: Trivia

12 near certain or absolutely certain (by BRef) Hall of Famers are currently playing. On this page -- https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/hof_prob.html -- I see at #12 Tony Parker with 94% chance and Pau Gasol at 93%, #13 Then it's a drop to Anthony Davis 78%. And he's just getting started...

Re: Jokic, career projection

Only two other players have collected 4700 Pts, 2700 Reb, and 1400 Ast by age 23: McGrady and Giannis. It took Giannis 5 years, TMac 6, Jokic not yet 4. Multiply Jokic's Pts, Reb, and Ast by 1.2, by age 25 those 2 are joined by LeBron, Durant, Garnett, and Antoine Walker. At factor 1.4 @26, Durant, ...

So why not use VORP or other cumulative stat, along with BPM? Zero is zero and is part of your average.

When that happens, it seems your post has in fact posted.
I just hit my apbrM shortcut button, get back to the forum, and see that my post is where it should be.

Team MOV has nose-dived from zero to -14 in the last 10. After 3 quarters, they avg -13. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/DAL/2019_games.html I happen to have allstar-break RPM, and I now looked up current RPM in all games. Then we can deduce last-8 RPM. last 8 mpg rpm +pts Powell 33 2.2 1...

After leading all players in playoff VORP for 8 straight years -- and 10 of the last 12 -- LeBron will miss this postseason. Re: Doncic

Seeing Doncic listed as a G surprised me, so I looked at his position splits and see he's SG for 73% of his minutes, 18% at SF, and 9% PG. I'd assumed he is SF/PF -- don't know why -- or maybe point forward? Anyway, 100 players this year have at least 1148 minutes and list as G or G-F. http://bkref....

Re: Trivia

A while back I was looking at 'best shooters', and I was struck by these two: John Paxson 1991, who started and played 24 mpg for the Bulls; and Donald Royal '93, who came off the bench for Orlando, 21 mpg. Both averaged about 9 points, with these shooting% -- player FG% 3fg% 2fg% eFG% FT% TS% Paxso...
