I like TrueHoop. But stuff like this is simply not ready for prime time:

How do you write an entire post about the impact of Carmelo (of whom I have never been a big fan) on the Knicks without referring to the on/off numbers? It is not very clever to hold him to account for the score when he is not on the floor.
Is there some deeper, unwritten analytical point why such attention is valid, instead of focusing on the current shortcomings of Stoudemire and Chandler?

Re: bad blog no donut
I think he's criticizing the Carmelo trade, not Carmelo himself, in which case he doesn't have to bring up the On/Off numbers because the team's overall point differential is the only thing that matters.
I would refrain to write an article like that about the Knicks though, simply because we haven't seen them at full strength yet. Baron Davis is not Chris Paul but he should make Stoudemire's and Chandler's life a lot easier.

There is no doubt that the point of the article is to criticize Anthony. And, of course, there is legitimate criticism, centered around the fact that for having a set of very conspicuous offensive skills he has always been over rated. It just so happens though that the criticism offered is weak, poorly focused, and ultimately untrue. It isn't asking too much to expect that "journalists" avail themselves of freely available, well known information directly on point to the argument being made.
If you are going to take the time to check and write that the Knick's offense is ranked 22nd. You might as well take the long trip to Aaron's site to note that the "Carmelo offense" (at 102.6) would be ranked 11th. So, he isn't a savior. That is old news but at least it is part of a true story.

He's right at his career average TS% (54.4), but his USG is at an all-time high (35%). Do they want Shumpert shooting more?
Re: bad blog no donut
Yeah, but weren't these the Amare' Stoudamire Knicks? -- and then they got Carmelo and Billups, let Billups go, Amare' went bad, etc.The Carmelo Anthony Knicks aren’t very good.
Now Carmelo is doing most of the scoring AND most of the passing. His Ast% (28.3) is twice what it was in Denver last year.
How many players have averaged 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4.3 assists in a season?
In NBA history, 21 players -- just 12 have done it more than once.
