Rebound Percentages on Free Throws?

Post by HoopDon »

Hey all, I'm doing some work on rebounding right now, and can't seem to locate data that breaks down the Rebounding Rate on Free Throw's. Team-by-team data would be nice, but a league average would also work.

For instance, are missed Free-Throws Rebounded by the Offense 15% of the time? 10%? Less? Any info would be appreciated.

Try http://nbawowy.com, I'm pretty sure it has rebounding numbers for free throws in the team section.

Be careful about the two percentages -- % of all missed FT rebounded by offense; and % of all reboundable missed FT that are OReb.
First of 2FTA are not reboundable.

PD123,

Thanks, I didn't know WOWY had that data.

Mike G,

Good advice! I think I'm doing it correctly, using each team's FT% and the .44 multiplier to arrive at the FT misses that were "reboundable".

If you want an interesting research question, you can look at how the shooter's free-throw percentage affects the offensive rebound rate after a miss.
