Hey Guys,
I know NBA.com has made public a bunch of the new player tracking data and am wondering if anyone has done any cool stuff with this info.
I know Harvard sports analytics posted something, and I read something over at HoopDon, but other than that it seems pretty scarce.
Any other good posts done on this stuff yet? I know it's still early, so I'm guessing thats why there's not much available.

Re: SportsVu
I think a lot of people are "ready" to do stuff with SportsVu, but the data-set is still so small that it would either be a waste of time, or be largely unreliable.
I have notepad full of stuff I want to do with the data, but would likely wait until at least January before crunching any numbers. That, and I currently have zero time due to my Final Exams

Small pet peeve: the technology is called "SportVU".

Re: SportsVu
I'm not using the SportVu dataset because I have data from Vantage for 2 years. I'd like to think my shot defense study is relevant. After my final week of the semester wraps up, I should have some more time to publish what I've researched.
Re: SportsVu
I've taken a stab at it.
Scoring Versatility Index (SVI) uses the new breakdown of a player's scoring into drives, catch and shoots and pull ups.

Player's Offense per Minute of Possession (POMP) and Player's Lost Offense per Minute of Possession (PLOMP) use touches, time of possession, as well as the new passing data.

and just posted today:
Offensive Efficiency with Player Tracking (OEPT) incorporates the new passing data to get a more detailed measure of an individual's points generated per possession.

Re: SportsVu
Thanks for sharing those, all of them are definately unique and helpful.
Recently I've also been tinkering around with the data, working with it in a way that's a little different. My methodology can be found here:
http://aabstats.weebly.com/
I haven't posted many of my results yet, because I want to make sure I get it right before I do, but currently the top five are Durant, Curry, Lebron, George, and CP3 (as of when I last updated it about a week ago) so I think it passes the smell test. However, I've only talked it over with one other person, and if anyone has the time to read it over and then critique it that would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: SportsVu
I used some SportVu data and reworked Win Score and Alternate Win Score to see what it looked like.
