Possession for Subbed in Player between FGA and a FTA?

Post by m_c_meyer »

How is a possession scored for a player that subs in between an "and one" situation, or between a missed shot with a foul but before the FTA? I'm not really sure how this would be scored. It makes sense that players subbing in shouldn't be penalized for that, but technically the FTA ends the possession(possession = FGA - OR + TO + .4 X FTA).

There are arguments either way (opportunity for rebound). Could do either way or perhaps split in half. Might hurt some players more than others but probably minor over a season. I'd say.

Or check with Jacob Goldstein, Seth Partnow, Knarsu3, etc. Probably by Twitter.
