Looking at the Mavs

Post by Crow »

Good record. But expected Pythagorean wins are 4 higher than actual. Even worse last season. Could be several things. Probably is something real.

12th best record against the Sagarin top 10. A concern for playoffs. Have trouble against teams who defend the shot well or rebound well. Very weak record against two-way strong teams.

Lineups at the top generally look very good. Curry Kleber Wright is much lower and around neutral. Possibly go away from that grouping.

3 pt game is active but very low on shots at rim and from line.

Slow pace? Good choice / outcome or not?

Opponents with bigs who can score could do well as can teams with better than average guard power to more closely match the Mavs' output there.

Clippers or Nuggets? Probably not excited to play either. But might prefer Nuggets. Let it happen or maneuver?

Clippers and Nuggets allow more than average 3pta but allow lower than average 3pt fg%. Mavs better shoot the 3 well to have much chance of a series win.

I am probably not playing Justin Jackson much more if fighting for playoff seed. Except to rest others. Probably not in the playoff rotation. 400th on LA-RAPM estimate.
