Playoff Rondo

Post by Mike G »

A nice article in which even coaches who didn't like his play say nice things about Rajon Rondo.

Anything to this recurring account of him "stepping up" in the playoffs?
Trying to get RS and PO numbers in chronological order, here's a table showing his team and playoff minutes for each year he's been in the postseason.
At the bottom is minutes-weighted difference from RS to PO for some summary stats.

This year notwithstanding, he's shot worse in playoffs, but most players do, as defenses tend to be better than avg.
BPM corrects for the competition, and +1.7 is significant.
WS/48 normally drops by about .020 in playoffs, as avg competition goes from .500 teams to .600 or so, and avg player from .100 to .080-ish.
