Summer league player stats

Post by Crow »

With the caveat that the small sample and quality of play diminish significance, here are a few comments:

Only 1 of the top 10 scorers per game was a 2023 drafted rookie and only 2 of top 20. More than half of top 20 were undrafted.

Only 3 of the top 10 scorers shot above league average from 3pt land.

In his brief run, Wembanyame finished 33rd on scoring and in a 4 way for 7th-10th on rebounding. Tied for 1st on blocks per game with Amen Thompson. Tied for about 130th to 145th on raw plus minus at +2. His usual 30% from 3.

Holmgren had good stats except for 17% from 3. 6th best raw +/- of almost 400 who played.

Wembanyama and Holmgren in the tie for 4th-9th highest ftas per game at 8.

Jett Howard, 11th worst raw +/-.

Amen and Ausar Thompson both in top 8 on steals per game.

Cason Wallace, 4th highest of 3pt fga per game and top 20 on 3pt fg% at 60%.

Podziemski had a horrible time shooting at 19% raw fg%. GG Jackson at 26%. Timme at 63% in limited run.

S Sharpe shot poorly, L Miller shot well. Castelton shot 81% raw fg%. Dick shot very poorly.

What teams will learn not to foul Wembanyama and Holmgren? Fouling them is generally the worst average play outcome for the defense.

Jackson-Davis, 16 pts, 8.5 rebs in 22 minutes per game.

Anthony Black, under 17% from 3 and well under 40% from 2.
