Thunder get slightly less than expected value. Worst actual vs expected signings were Singler and Kanter

Spurs and Bulls did best on average in period.

Magic, Timberwolves, Suns and Pistons among the worst. 2.5% -7 or worse

Clippers and Warriors among the most reliant on free agents. Thunder and TWolves the least.

Navigation of 121 pages by team using 3 letter city abbreviation.

Only about 15% of free agent signings were +2 or better by this study. 35% total above neutral. 15% below -2. So 50% were 0 to -2.

Klay Thompson 2019 deal as the very worst at nearly -23.

18 free agents got $16+ mil / yr, another 20 got over $8 mil / yr. It appears only about 11 more according to spotrac got above their vet minimum.works. 55 or more are getting the minimum salary or a 2way deal.

Value is an important concept but market forces are also in play.

I'd advise most or amost all pending free agents to take what appears to be their current team's best offer before opening bell or especially if still there after day 1 or 2 of free agency.

Unclear how many vets have not gotten signed at all but it will probably be quite a few dozen. 83 rookies last season, so probably close to that many departures. There will be some who are a part of both categories in same season.

Wonder how much agents try to use access to surprised players to enhance salary offers for lesser clients and how much it works. Probably isn't working that much.

About the only vet free agent I would be checking on would be Kennard to see what he'll take at this point. Outright or sign n trade. For use or possible trade use.

Kennard did get a decent 1 year deal. Probably somewhere else in 6-12 months.
