Pair RAPM

Post by Crow »

Curry - Green tied for best estimated pair impact among qualifiers.

Braun - Jokic shares top spot.

SGA has 2 of top 5 with Wallace and Dort.

Impact of course may come mainly from 1 guy.

DeRozan - Ellis is a surprise in top 5. Will Kings give that away soon? Probably.

Thompson - Sengun also in top 5.

15 pairs over +2.

Worst pair over full run to date is Brunson Bridges. The only qualifier estimated worse than -1. Brunson - Hart and Bridges -Hart 9th and 11th worst estimates respectively.

D Daniels - Risacher 3rd worst qualifier. Banchero - Carter 5th worst.

Team know, "care"?

DeRozan - Ellis fades to 32nd and probably won't be around much longer despite being best Kings pair on this list.

SGA step in front of Curry - Green for best long-term rapm pair. How much will Presti spend to keep?

2 Knicks pairs remain among very worst.

Johnson - Castle 2nd worst here. +4 this season raw conpared to -8 last season. Minutes went from about 13 per game to 7. A successful adjustment.

Wizards have 2 of 4 worst between 3 young "core" perimeters at -15 and -19, much worse than last season. Break "ts" up?

D Daniels - Risacher still 6th worst qualifier here but raw improved fron -4 last season to just -1 fwiw.

Banchero - Carter goes from 5th worst to 17th worst here. Now +1 raw.

Raw and rapm are different. Change to cumulative rapm pairs may be slow and not always warranted by better small sample raw.

Doncic - James apparently short of possession minimum.

Conley - Gobert 6th best on cumulative pair rapm, +9 on raw. Gobert with Hyland or Dillingham way better and nearly as good. Probably not making a change?

Podziemski Butler highly rated here and top minute Warrior pair at +5 raw. Curry Hield highly rated here but not working raw this season and usage is down by more than half. 2 apparent proper choices.

Murray - Jokic 7th best here and +13 raw. What diminishes it or actually causes trouble? Raw and / or RAPM pair vs pair would be something I haven't seen done but should happen for key playoff matchups.

Tons more data to see & consider... with interest and a bit of work and thought.

SGA...and Gobert with 3 in top 25. Jokic, Curry, Leonard, Holmgren with two. No Doncic, Brunson, Tatum, J Brown, Durant, Mitchell, Cunningham or any Magic player in top 25, but some make top 50. Wembanyama just misses top 50 with Barnes. Minutes may be a factor.

SGA, Holmgren, Wallace have 3 of 10 best RAPM pairs between them. SGA - Dort down to sbout 55th from top 5 early. 13th with Caruso, 22nd with Wiggins. Lowest minutes qualified pair with Hartenstein is still positive but all defense.

Best pairs peak out short of +4.

Wemby 3rd best with Champagnie. 19th best with Castle. Apparently too early for Fox and Harper reports.

Jokic top 8 with Braun & Murray. 17th with Gordon.

Worst negative estimate is Castke - K Johnson. Bottom has representation from Wizards, Jazz, Nets and Bulls.

Podziemski - Green is 14th lowest. Curry - Podz 14th best. Wonder what the trio rates.

Ball - Diabate 9th best. Thompson - Sengun 16th.

Sure enough, LaVine - DeRozan is 10th worst.

Scottie Barnes has 2 in bottom 30 qualified with Dick and Shead.

Of 20 best pairs at xrapm

About 35% are guard - forward
33% guard - center
18% guard - guard
and just 14% are forward - forward or forward - center.

Strong interior pairs are rare. 86% of top 20 involve a guard.

About 40% of best players on xrapm are guards, 35% forwards, 25% centers. Modest difference from proportional in favor of centers, against forwards.
