Running clock off

Post by Crow »

Assani Fisher looks at the issue of running clock off in more detail that I can recall seeing previously.

I hate you.

Interesting article idea though. My first thought is it wouldn't be worth it to these players' reputations. Like flopping, it's obviously cheap/lame, and flopping hasn't caught on in the NBA as much as in FIBA I think for that reason. My second thought was this is the equivalent to an NFL linebacker sitting on a just-tackled runningback late in a close game so refs can't spot the ball quickly, and not only does that happen a bunch, but also as a fan I can't name a specific linebacker who did that off the top of my head. I think, if this article catches on, I could imagine players walking slowly to the ref to get the ball, but waiting the full 5 seconds with the ball in your hand to pass to a wide-open PG would look ridiculous, and probably wouldn't be worth it reputation-wise for both players and coaches.
