I'm wondering if anyone knows a source for totals on technical fouls? It seems like there have been an abnormally high number of technicals rescinded this year. Maybe because more controversial technicals are being handed out because of the new rules?

I did a quick search through articles on ESPN and NBA.com and found 11 reports of technicals being rescinded. 4 for Tyson Chandler, 3 for Amare, 1 each for Kobe, Brendan Haywood, Ron Artest and Blake Griffin. I feel like Dwight Howard had at least one rescinded this year, but I couldn't find mention.

I'm wondering if anyone knows a definitive source, or at least something more accessible than looking through the box scores of every game this season, to find the total number of technicals for each player and the total number rescinded. Thanks!

You could run through the play by play files at basketballvalue. Not sure if that counts as "more accessible" but in Python that will probably be 15 or less lines of code and the PBPs are easily downloadable, and I don't know if the PBP gets changed once the technical gets rescinded

Thanks a ton! Any idea if the numbers from Doug Stats are adjusted when technicals are rescinded? It seems like such a weird process. It's not like there is an rss feed of press releases. It seems like the league just quietly passes that information onto a media member who covers that team, and only in the case of technicals that are controversial.
